NuestramemorIA It is defined as a transdisciplinary research project; therefore, a significant part of the work involves including representatives from society who are not necessarily part of the academic community. Within this framework, the project has built the trust necessary to secure the support of renowned organizations that entrust their archives to the project team, always with a view toward collaboration and the achievement of the research objectives.
We offer these institutions guarantees of privacy, security, and accountability in the handling of their data. These are the institutions with which we collaborate to collect, analyze, and make sense of the archives of memory.
Provincial Commission for Memory (Argentina)
The cooperation agreement with Argentina’s Provincial Commission for Memory involves the provision of documentary material in digital format to strengthen investigations into human rights violations through the use of artificial intelligence, ensuring that the tools developed benefit the management of historical archives. The Provincial Commission for Memory (CPM) is an autonomous public agency in Argentina that manages intelligence archives from the dictatorship and promotes policies related to memory, truth, and justice.
Nos Buscamos Foundation
The Nos Buscamos Foundation is a civil society organization focused on investigating irregular adoptions and reestablishing family ties for victims of enforced disappearances in Chile. The partnership with NuestramemorIA involves the provision of documents for the development of artificial intelligence applications that contribute to the foundation’s specific investigations, under strict confidentiality and data protection protocols, with the goal of facilitating information management and assisting in the search processes carried out by the Foundation.
Vicaría de la Solidaridad Foundation
The collaborative partnership in Document Analysis with the Vicaría de la Solidaridad aims to develop natural language processing and OCR tools to digitize and analyze the dictatorship’s files and records, including the co-design of a platform with the technical teams. The Vicaría de la Solidaridad Foundation is the legal successor to the Comité Pro Paz, which was responsible for defending human rights and providing assistance to victims during the Chilean civil-military dictatorship of 1973–1990.
London 38
The Alliance for Memory, in partnership with the Londres 38 Corporation, involves providing digital documents to support data science research that enables new ways of exploring archives related to the dictatorship in Chile. Londres 38 is a space for remembrance and an organization dedicated to historical recovery and the promotion of human rights, located in a former detention and torture center.
Museum of Memory and Human Rights
NuestramemorIA . has a collaboration agreement with the Museum of Memory and Human Rights (MMDH) that provides access to the museum’s digital heritage archives for artificial intelligence research aimed at transforming static collections into dynamic databases for memory and justice. The MMDH is a space dedicated to raising awareness of the human rights violations committed by the Chilean government between 1973 and 1990, while promoting education and remembrance.
Systematization Project in Uruguay (UDELAR and the Truth and Justice Group)
As part of its work in the Southern Cone, the “ NuestramemorIA ” signed the Protocol on Confidentiality and Archival Organization in Uruguay, which aims to organize, process, and disseminate digital information related to investigations into state terrorism in Uruguay’s recent past, using AI tools to process multi-format archives. This collaboration brings together Uruguay’s Truth and Justice Group with researchers from the University of the Republic (Udelar) to ensure the ethical handling of sensitive documentary collections.
Radio Cooperativa
The collaboration with Radio Cooperativa stems from the need for audio recordings of Chileans from the 1970s through the 1990s, speaking in the language of the time, with Chilean idioms and expressions. The radio station provided hours of recordings representative of the period, which the team at NuestramemorIA uses to conduct scientific research whose technological applications provide institutional benefits for both parties. Radio Cooperativa is one of the country’s most renowned media outlets, with a long history in Chilean broadcasting and a key role in the preservation of audio and documentary heritage.
