As part of the Santiago Library’s project “Open Doors to Knowledge: Open Science in the Community,” developed in collaboration with Wikimedia Chile, a series of talks was held throughout October to spread the philosophy of free knowledge and open science, while promoting citizen participation and inclusive access to information.
Domingo Mery, a professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Catholic University and a researcher at the Millennium Institute for the Foundations of Data, presented the Nuestra MemorIA project as part of the month dedicated to “Archives and Memory,” which aims to reflect on the importance of archives and memory in building open and inclusive knowledge, while also considering the role of communities in preserving these records and ensuring access to them. The event aimed to bring data science closer to the public through local history.
